The mounting system is a product feature of the eSticky system that should not be underestimated. The operator should be able to mount the system very easily. Remember that the target users of the project are elderly people with memory problems, who may also show motor difficulties.

The combination of an easily removable glue and a magnet allows the user to mount the device without having to drill any holes in the wall. In addition, a solution with a stand also allows the unit to be placed on a table.

In this article we take a closer look at the eSticky device mounting and support system.

eSticky: the digital post-it note that helps memory

We are seven partners from four European countries-Italy, Austria, Cyprus, and Poland. We brought our design, marketing and technology skills and knowledge together in the eSticky project for AAL, the European research and development program to support active and independent living.

What we did was to imagine a digital post-it note that helps older people remember their daily commitments and small appointments. A network of graphic displays assist the user by showing important information, such as:

  • scheduled events;
  • medication reminders;
  • nutritional recommendations.

The aim of the project is to support people with memory problems so that they maintain their independence in life.

eSticky Mounting

The mounting system uses an adhesive, magnet, and shape adaptation to achieve a good fixation to the wall. The spherical shape makes the unit very easy to adjust.

Stand for the device

A stand for the display or base can also make it possible to use eSticky on a table. Ideally, the unit can also be rotated.

This design phase was very effective for the development of the project. It was ideal not to dive straight into a well-defined idea, but to generate a wide range of ideas for design exploration. Several concepts were transformed into visual creations.

The designs with the greatest potential will be chosen in the later stages of the process, where decisions for a final design variant can be made with the support of Technical Design Development and descriptive model creation.
