Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a serious disease that affects many older people today.

Caring for AD patients can be both physically and mentally demanding. At the same time, it is also important to allow patients to live an independent life.

One of the most frequent problems is that the patient decides to leave the house, forgetting in fact where he is and how to go home. This often leads him to move even many kilometers away from the starting point.

This innovative project therefore proposes the use of a #MiWi device, which is always connected with Alzheimer’s patients. If the Alzheimer’s patient is out of range of the MiWi device, the alert message is sent to the assistant’s mobile number along with the latitude and longitude values.

Using these values it is possible to find the patient using the Google map. And even if the device is lost, the patient’s last known location is sent to the assistant’s mobile number.

The caretaker can then share the patient’s details also on social networks.
People can then participate in searches using the details provided and notify the caretaker if the patient is found.
